Product Information 5 watt Solar Panel 300ma The FM122 5-watt Solar Panel Kit (Solar battery chargers) is for use with GTO low voltage automatic gate operator systems. The GTO solar panel kit comes with tubular steel support, mounting clips, wire connectors, and 8 ft. of low voltage wire. Installation in some regions of the world will require multiple panels for adequate charging power. All DC control boards are pre-wired for the solar panel. See Powering Options for more information about solar applications. The GTO Solar Panel is a solar battery charger for the GTO Automatic Gate Openers. The Solar Panel is necessary for gate opener installations more than 1000 ft. from an AC power source, or where solar power is preferred. The size and quantity of solar panels needed depends on many factors. Some of these are frequency of gate use (one open and close of the gate is called a cycle), the weight of your gate(s), your location (how much sun do you get?) and how many power-draining accessories are plugged into the battery and control board. For example, an exit wand uses a lot of current, but a wireless keypad uses none. If you are located in unsunny Ohio like we are, solar power does not work well.
