The latch portion is hinged and flips up when it comes in contact with the latching post and then flips down to securely keep the chain link gate in the closed position. Used with one of our automatic gate closers like the Kant Slam, you can transform your chain link walk gate into a self-closing and latching gate. This system is great with pool fences or other areas where you need to make sure your gate remains shut. This latch is not a child-safety latch like the Magna-Latch, which allows the latching mechanism to be raised out of a small child's reach.
